About Amsterdam

Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, boasts a captivating history that dates back to its 12th century beginnings as a modest fishing village. Over time, the city flourished into a bustling commercial center, and, by the 17th century, played a pivotal role in global trade. The establishment of the Dutch East India Company during the colonial era further fueled periods of prosperity, cultural blossoming, and architectural advancement. About Groningen
The city is nationally known as the "Metropolis of the North" and as "Martinistad" referring to the Martinitoren. Although Groningen is not a very large city, it does have an important role as the main urban centre of this part of the country, particularly in the fields of music and other arts, education, and business. The large number of students living in Groningen also contributes to a diverse cultural scene for a city of its size. Groningen is home to several important museums and theaters. Groningen's nightlife depends largely on its student population. Its cultural scene is vibrant and remarkable for a city of its size.

About Eindhoven
As university city, Eindhoven has a large student population, giving Eindhoven a young population, whose recreational needs are catered to by several different festivals and clubs. Eindhoven was also the main location of The Philips Company, who undertook a lot of effort in the "cultural formation" of its workforce and gave the city both cultural institutions and sporting institutions. Eindhoven is also known as the City of Light, due to the Company Philips originating there because of the several projects involving lighting up buildings of the city. During Carnival, Eindhoven is rechristened Lampegat (Hamlet of Lamps); referring to the important role of Philips in the Eindhoven community.

About Maastricht
Maastricht is known in the Netherlands and beyond for its lively squares, narrow streets, and historical buildings. The city has 1,677 rijksmonumenten (national heritage sites), more than any Dutch city, outside Amsterdam. The entire city centre is a protected cityscape ("beschermd stadsgezicht"). The tourist information office (VVV) is located in the Dinghuis, a medieval building overlooking Grote Staat. Maastricht's main sights include amazing ancient buildings, beautiful rivers, several museums, annual events and festivals, as well as many sprawling incredible city parks.

About Vlissingen
Vlissingen is a municipality and a city in the southwestern Netherlands on the former island of Walcheren. With its strategic location between the Scheldt river and the North Sea, Vlissingen has been an important harbour for centuries. It was granted city rights in 1315. In the 17th century Vlissingen was a main harbour for ships of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). It is also known as the birthplace of Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. Vlissingen is mainly noted for the yards on the Scheldt where most of the ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy (Koninklijke Marine) are built.
